18° edizione MILANO PHOTOFESTIVAL
Si inaugura alla MA-EC Gallery il 5 ottobre 2023 la mostra fotografica Focus. My society and me, inserita nel programma ufficiale della 18° edizione del Milano Photofestival.
Il progetto espositivo vedrà dialogare 20 artisti internazionali che propongono fotografie e video negli eleganti spazi del Palazzo Durini.
La mostra Focus. My society and me è inserita nel programma della 18a edizione di Photofestival, la rassegna di fotografia d’autore che dal 15 settembre al 31 ottobre 2023 propone un ricco programma di mostre e altre iniziative diffuse sul territorio metropolitano di Milano e in alcune province lombarde, per promuovere la
cultura dell’immagine (milanophotofestival.it).
Con questa mostra MA-EC Gallery aderisce anche alla 19° Giornata del contemporaneo AMACI di sabato 7 ottobre 2023.
La mostra vuole evidenziare la funzione civile e sociale della fotografia, insostituibile mezzo di informazione da cui partire per fare delle analisi più approfondite. Il fotografo sa cogliere quell’attimo irripetibile che può diventare spunto di riflessione, suscitare reazioni, contrasti, incitare lo spettatore a prendere coscienza di una situazione, di un momento storico e magari far scattare quel desiderio di aderire ad una causa, di risvegliare la coscienza o anche soltanto di comprendere il messaggio. Andare a fondo, trasmettere valori sociali, porre l’attenzione su delle tematiche a volte scomode: anche questo può essere il ruolo della fotografia, e solo la sensibilità del fotografo riesce a catturare quell’immagine che pure a distanza di anni ha tanto da raccontare.
Durante l’opening del 5 ottobre, l’artista Roywang, detentore del Guinness dei primati nel 2018 e nel 2021 per il più grande light painting del mondo, proporrà una performance che vedrà il coinvolgimento del pubblico. Con la sola torcia del telefonino, si potrà partecipare alla performance di light painting realizzata da Roywang insieme agli altri artisti che espongono in mostra. Il video registrato di tale opera di light painting sarà proiettato nelle prossime occasioni espositive di Roywang in Cina e in altri Paesi del mondo.
Roywang (Sibo Wang), classe 1987, vive a Pechino.
Detentore del Guinness dei primati per light painting, è consulente e rappresentante cinese di LPWA (Light Painting World Alliance), rappresentante di IAA China.
Tra le sue principali mostre, 2012 LPWA Mumbai International Light Painting Show, 2014 Hong Kong International Light Painting Exhibition, 2016 Oviedo International Light Painting Exhibition, Spain, Longhushan International Light Painting Exhibition, 2018 International Light Painting Exhibition, Paris, Casablanca International Light Painting Exhibition, Beijing International Light Painting Exhibition, 2023 International Action Art Exhibition, Dubai. Tra i premi ricevuti, ricordiamo 2022 First Prize of Intangible Cultural Heritage IP Design Competition Area of the 6th. Mentougou Cultural and Creative Competition, Gold Prize of H.C. Andersen Art Awards, Artistic Contribution Award of Luxembourg International Art Award.

The criteria used by the jury are creativity, image composition, choice of subject, adherence to the theme, the quality of expression and the rigour in artistic research, originality, technique.
The theme of this year's Milano Photofestival is "Open up to the world. Photography as a civil commitment", which is always a hot topic of concern and discussion in modern society. Some of us live in the city, some in the countryside, and in one way or another we all have to relate to society in various ways. The way of life today has the huge distinctness from the past, and the relationship between human beings and society has changed accordingly. How to reconcile obligations and rights, to do one's best and to give meaning to life is an important proposition in contemporary sociology. Focusing on this theme and looking towards the future, the exhibition invites photography/video artists to explore the Symbolism of the new era in the form of photographs, digital and short films, so as to explore them more deeply and translate them into artistic expression.
After careful selection and on-site discussion, the judges of the exhibition finally selected three artists. We hereby certify that Chinese artist Sun Chao is the only Chinese artist to win the highest award Gold Premium Photography.
